3!

This Summer has been nothing short of as eventful as last years. No shortage of emotions, confusions, and hurts in this family for another August in a row. Too much has simply gone on for me to even begin to sort through and post to a this happy, scattered blog.

So, onto the most important event of the Summer in this little household. A boy turned THREE! Months far too late, but still noteworthy enough to jot down my favorite things about this three-year-old Bennett boy of ours.
Three years ago, on June 15th, this little one's arrival shook our world. A boy! I remember thinking, 'what on earth am I to do with a boy!?'. Three years later and most days I'm still wondering. He was a colicky little guy and my nights were spent awake with a tearful baby. His very big-boy looking 3 year old form is just a memory of that tiny lanky baby now. At just three he is constantly asked if he is a twin to his almost 5 year old sister. Good genes.
Bennett brings so much life to this little family. And dirt. A lot of dirt. In 5 minutes of imagination he can pretend to be The Lion King, the greatest superhero, or the greatest guitar player/drummer out there. He's a whirlwind most days! In true Bennett style, his birthday was celebrated with lots of friends at a big tractor party. Complete with tractor hay rides from Papa Rusty. We have a feeling tractors will be loved by this boy for many years to come.
This growing ball of energy has a love for music. His instruments of choice are guitar and drums and, as of late, he's taken to pretending to play piano on the back of chairs during worship at church. So, because we're crazy, or just love him to pieces.. we bought him his first real drum set. Wow.

Bennett is a runner. It's like reigning in a wild horse sometimes in the house with his ambition for running. R.Jay has started taking him on small 1 mile runs in the evening and he loves this. For fun, he'll run around our small village property for 30 minutes at a time. For fun. Have I mentioned his level of energy!?!

I love this boy dearly. 'Something about a boy and his mama' I've heard a dozen times before but it rings true for us. He still cuddles with me often and even in all his busyness if I whisper "I love you", he is always faithful with a, "I love you too, Mom." Always.
My heart melts when I watch him. He is so quickly growing into such a big boy. The older he gets the more he resembles his Daddy. His biggest feat for the coming new year: holding the title 'big brother'. For some crazy (hormonal) reason this immediately brings tears to my eyes. So big, too fast.
We love this three-year old version of Rushton Bennett Dowling!
